Ontario Class Action UpdateYesterday, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice received an update from Volkswagen and the other parties on the progress of proceedings and discussions about affected 2.0L TDI vehicles in Canada. The parties informed the Court that discussions are ongoing. As discussions continue, the Court’s order to keep the details confidential will remain in place.
It remains our primary goal to reach terms that treat our valued Canadian customers fairly. We will share more information as soon as we’re able.
UPDATE: The Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Québec have each scheduled October 18th for the next update on the status of these settlement discussions. Additional Ontario Court dates are scheduled for December 19th and 20th. In the event that a settlement agreement in Canada is reached earlier than the scheduled dates, the parties will advise the Courts and request earlier appearances.

TDI Update re: U.S. Court HearingVolkswagen Group of America appeared before U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer on August 25, 2016 to provide an update regarding 3.0L V6 TDI vehicles in the U.S. market. Volkswagen Group of America continues to work closely with U.S. regulators towards approvals of repairs for these vehicles. Judge Breyer has scheduled a follow-up hearing for November 3, 2016.
Additionally, Volkswagen Group of America announced that it has reached an agreement-in-principle with Volkswagen dealers in the U.S. relating TDI vehicles affected by the emissions issues. The parties have agreed to keep the details confidential as they work to finalize an agreement. Once there is a final detailed agreement, it will be subject to Court approval.

TDI Update re: Status of 2.0L TDI DiscussionsOn October 18, Volkswagen and plaintiffs in consumer class actions updated the Ontario and Québec Courts on the ongoing progress of discussions regarding affected 2.0L TDI vehicles across Canada. The parties continue to engage in productive discussions and will keep the Courts updated. The details of the discussions remain subject to the court order of confidentiality while the parties work to reach a settlement.
