Two Durham men charged after OPP find drugs and alcohol on their boats
JULY 10, 2019
Two Durham men learned that the hard way.
On Tuesday, OPP were on Sturgeon Lake checking boats for licences and proper safety equipment.
They say they seized four grams of pot from a Hampton man’s boat.
Joshua Thomas, 27, was charged with having care or control of a vessel with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act.
On Scugog River Tuesday, the marine unit spotted a boat with empty beer cans.
David Chong, 60, of Ashburn, was charged with having care and control of a boat underway with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
The OPP would like to remind those operating boats that impaired boating is the same as impaired driving and carries with it the same penalties. “Boat safe, boat sober.”
