in Flipping and Pitching just thumb the spool all the way when letting line out, no chance of 炒粉 at all
...just practise in the park, never on the lake...that way you'll be 100% concentrated on what you are doing
For casting
try overhead casting to start with
dont cast against the wind
use 1/4oz or above SB, so that you may see better how it travels in the air...lands etc
First adjust the Casting Control Knob
....by the cranking side of the reel, starting from tight to less tight
hold the rod level straight out, thumb down the release clutch, the lure shall drop, when the setting is too tight the lure will stop midway in the air, retrieve, loosen the knob a bit, and try release again, until the lure hits the gound and stops there and no over running without thumbing the spool, you've got the right setting....
this control knob applies static friction to the axle's end to avoid over running at low spool speed, i.e. at the start of each casting and when the lure hits water...lures of different weight requires different setting for the best performance
Then adjust the Brake, magnetic or centrifugal type
the brake applies kinetic friction to the rotating spool during acceleration in the air, and governs it
speeding will result in 炒粉
tight brake is 炒粉 proof but distance discouraging, vise versa
if the casting control knob has been set right, you may start with the brake in mid-setting, then loosen bit by bit for the distance...
when i first tried my 1st generation Chronarch in the park, i did everything right stated above, and i was casting like a Pro, 炒粉? what 炒粉?
