Good evening Arnie, sorry to hear you experienced issues returning from Lake Simcoe today through the town of Innisfil. It is to bad we don’t have more respectful and courteous visitors such as yourself enjoying the lake through the Gilford area.
Unfortunately, If we hadn’t dealt with so many issues over many years due to mis-information spread through message boards and just disrespectful tourists the residents and town would likely wouldn’t have had to address them so definitively.
As the town has gone through a Parks Master Plan, we have identified existing beach accesses that will continue to be closed to motorized vehicles. The park at Gilford Road is now zoned strictly as a park and is closed to motorized vehicles year-round but, due to the continued disrespect to this with people accessing the lake by snowmobiles and atv’s yet again this winter, staff have just installed an additional rock barrier to stop this illegal activity.
The open motorized access continues to be located just a short distance away off Shore Acres/HWY 89.
Through all of our planning and public meetings on road ends including the Gilford Park, no ADOA issues especially during the winter months, were ever brought up as a concern but, again Shore Acres Drive road end remains completely unblocked for all to enjoy.
Lastly, although you are not a resident, I have copied my customer service ambassador to document your concerns and to have staff address them if possible.
Thanks Rob
